BlackBerry to launch Passport handsets in India on September 29

BlackBerry is going to launch its uniquely designed Passport smartphones in India on September 29th. The firm has sent out media invites to us for the launch of its new QWERTY smartphones in New Delhi, scheduled after its launch in Toronto, London and Dubai on September 24. With the launch of its Passport handsets, BlackBerry is hoping to regain its lost traction.

Blackberry Passport India Launch Invite
According to leaks, the square-shaped Blackberry Passport is likely to feature a 4.5-inch (1440 x 1440 pixels), a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor coupled with a 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. It will also feature a 13-megapixel primary and a 2-megapixel front camera. The connectivity options of the device may include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, SlimPort and NFC.
With a 3450mAh battery, the Passport promises to last an entire day on full charge. It will run BlackBerry’s next-generation BlackBerry OS 10.3, which is rumoured to feature BlackBerry Assistant – not much different from Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana.
Blackberry Passport
While the specifications of the BlackBerry Passport are still elusive, its pricing has not been kept under wraps. BlackBerry CEO John Chen was quoted by The Wall Street Journal as saying that it will be priced at around Rs 36,000 ($599).

VodafoneIN starts offering 1GB 3G at Rs147 with 30 days Validity

As expressed our views earlier operators are trying to promote 3G by hiking 2G tariff and bringing down the 3G prices to 2G prices which were already hiked earlier so as to bridge the gap between the prices and technology. We have been receiving messages and information from users across various circles saying they are enjoying 3G at 2G prices.
Here is a screenshot of a sms sent out by VodafoneIN (AP Circle) to some of it’s users.
Vodafone 3G@2G Rates
The last SMS states – ” Vodafone 3G now at 2G rates. RC147 now gives 1GB 3G Data for 30 Days.”
The thing that needs to be emphasized here is that Vodafone is offering 3G in AP via ICRA agreements but still offering 3G at affordable prices. This makes anyone think about the native 3G service providers and future pricing of 3G services.
Be it a long time strategy or promo offer to study market requirements and usage patterns of users only users who are in good 3G coverage areas can enjoy the services because of patchy 3G coverage. What ever it is we are getting notified by happy customers whenever they are enjoying 3G at affordable or 2G price tags.
